About

Timothy Astor (that’s me!) is a designer who applies award winning talent with a mid-western work ethic to deliver experiential architecture that dares to challenge the expected. I combine my passion for design with a background in performing arts to deliver a wide-ranging portfolio in the fields of urban mixed-use, commercial, cultural, hospitality, and multi-family architecture. I strive to deliver user-focused projects through personalized engagement with clients and consultant partners that aren’t afraid to stand out from the crowd.

Extensive past research into building acoustics and a clear understanding of user needs help me craft design options from the inside out, resulting in an experiential architecture focused on the individual. Utilizing my skills in 3D digital modeling and iterative design methods I seek to present high quality solutions to a diverse range of stakeholders. I combine my curiosity in technology with my dedication to design excellence to explore new BIM and AI based software tools while delving into research on emerging construction methods such as Mass Timber. I am also dedicated to giving back to my community through numerous volunteer and pro-bono design efforts, including leading design teams at annual events such as Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses, Gingertown, and participating as a fellow and mentor for the Auburn University College of Architecture, Design, and Construction Aydelott Travel Award Selection Committee.

I am a dual-degree graduate of Auburn University's NAAB Accredited College of Architecture, Design, and Construction, with Bachelors of Architecture and Interior Architecture. I previously studied Interdisciplinary Humanities at Michigan State University with an emphasis in Performing Arts. Born in California, raised in suburban Detroit, and educated in sub-rural Alabama, I aim to experience all aspects of this great country’s architectural heritage.

Past architecture honors include First Prize in the 49th annual Alabama Forestry Association (AFA) Wood Competition, Third Prize in the 2016 Veterinary Hospital/Clinic and Rehabilitation Center Competition, as a member of the team honored with the inaugural Alabama AIA Student Design Honor Award in 2017, and the recipient of Auburn University’s Aydelott Travel Award in 2017.

My work can be found on display at the Third Space exhibit at the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, AL, at the Endangered Architecture: The Work of Bernt Nyberg traveling exhibit, and in the publication Lewerentz's St. Petri at 50: Context, Fragments, and Influence by Prof. Matthew Hall.

In my free time, I sincerely enjoy beating my friends and family at fantasy football, drinking good coffee, baking for my husband, and spoiling our dog.
